Joe and Kat’s wedding at Manor Lodge in Sheffield was definitely a day to remember. The Turret House at Manor Lodge is very much a hidden gem of great historical importance, so it was wonderful to be able to use it as a backdrop for an early summer, outdoor wedding ceremony.
A warm early summer day began with Kat, her mum and bridal party getting ready at the house of one of the bridesmaids. Such a great atmosphere with excitement and a buzz throughout. Photographs were taken of the dress, shoes, make-up, bridesmaids and of course lots of Kat herself.

And then it was off to the Turret House, up above the Manor Lodge to meet Joe and his groomsmen. With chairs laid out in front of the ancient turret, it was looking particularly photogenic. As were Joe and the guys of course, sporting immaculate dark suits which you can see in the photographs below.
As Kat arrived (she really did look stunning), with her parents and bridesmaids, photographs were taken out of sight of the guests in the beautiful lavender field. After that, the exciting walk then followed down the small grassy hill over to the Turret House and the assembled guests.
With the official wedding ceremony having been held at the Town Hall a couple of days beforehand, Kat and Joe were free to choose someone close to them to lead the ceremony, making it it all very personal. Vows were made and carefully chosen readings read and rings exchanged. After the ceremony music was played and confetti thrown. Music played a big part of the day as Kat is an accomplished musician. Her fellow players certainly did them both proud.
Some really nice and fun photographs were taken of family and friends, with lots of informals too as everyone enjoyed the early summer sunshine with drinks and canapés to the sound of live music.
As guests wandered off towards the reception, to be held a few short minutes walk away at the Manor Lodge, Kat and Joe stayed behind. This gave us a nice chance to take some beautiful portraits in the garden and amongst the lavender. The light, the outfits and of Kat and Joe themselves made for some really special photographs.

And so off to the Manor Lodge, a really lovely venue for a medium sized reception, where many of the guests were relaxing on the lawn enjoying the sunshine. With a spectacular view over Sheffield and beyond, looking right over to the Peak District in the distance, this beautiful old house was quite a find.
A particularly good meal was enjoyed in a great fun atmosphere, followed by some excellent speeches. Even more gorgeous evening sunshine ensued, but then, no less than archery and axe throwing opened the evening’s entertainment. After which we saw another aspect of the interesting lives of Kat and Joe in the form of sword dancing.
But after all of that, you can’t beat a ceilidh to get everyone involved. As we watched the warm sun set over Sheffield, fish and chips was served from a mobile chippy to the side of the house. A beautiful warm summer’s evening of chat and friendship topped off what was a most wonderful and unforgettable day.
Kat and Joe – a joyful day thanks to all your amazing energies, fascinating interests and the absolutely lovely group of family and friends. Thank you so much for asking me to document such a special day. My very best wishes for your future together.
