A Spring Wedding at Dronfield Church with Reception at Losehill House .
Lauren and Craig’s wedding was held at Saint John’s Church in Dronfield, with their reception at Losehill House. And what a day it was!
I first got to know Lauren and Craig (apart from our initial meeting, that is) when we walked along the banks of the River Derwent to take some engagement photographs on a very enjoyable wintry afternoon. Fast forward to April, with some beautiful and much warmer spring weather and we arrived at the very special day that you see here.
As a photographer I see weddings as being all about people. So after that engagement shoot and chatting to Lauren and Craig, I just knew that their day was going to be special. Add into the day beautiful Dronfield Church, incredible Peak District landscapes and absolutely stunning Losehill House, and you really are heading for one amazing day.
When I arrived at Lauren’s family home, I met her mum and dad and bridesmaids. Emma Buck was expertly working on make-up. Informal photographs were taken of make-up and of the dress hanging before going into the garden with the girls to take some photographs. On returning into the house Lauren’s dad was able to see her all ready for the first time. I love that bit – it really is a very meaningful part of the day.
The Wedding at Dronfield Church
And off to Saint John’s Church to meet the guys and to see Craig looking terrific in his kilt. Photographs of the men, informal and formal and then to wait for Lauren’s mum and the bridesmaids to arrive. And then soon following was Lauren and her dad. The church service was beautiful, as I hope you can see from the photographs (I’m really struggling to avoid repeating the word “special” too many times, but it isn’t easy here!) . Emotional, warm and kind, the service was a particular pleasure to photograph.
Gathering outside, there was no shortage of excited faces amongst family and the many friends, perfect for a wedding photographer and no shortage of confetti either.
Wedding Photographs in The Peak District
And so the open top car took our bride and groom off into the Peaks on the way to Losehill House. We planned to meet on the tops near Fox House at a favourite spot for a breather and for some photographs. Perfect! Just a few minutes for Lauren and Craig to spend a moment together – okay, they had a photographer with them as well, but you know what I mean.
The Reception at Losehill House
Arriving at Losehill, we met everyone on the lawn and had some fun with some group photographs. Looking fabulous, the dining room was laid out ready to receive the guests. With all the details photographed, the guests all rolled in and took their seats. Jackets off, the guests were in full relaxed mode whilst stunning looking food was served (yes I even photograph the food).
Time for the speeches, as Lauren’s dad and Craig himself delivered highly accomplished and enjoyable speeches. Craig’s sister followed with what has to be one of the best speeches I have ever heard, anywhere.
As the guests left the dining room for the garden or the bar to allow Jules and the Losehill team to turn the room around, Lauren and Craig went for a quiet wander along that beautiful lane for a few evening photographs. Then an enthusiastic welcome for the evening guests ensued before time to cut their rather beautiful cake.
And then the moment the guests had all been waiting for: Lauren and Craig hit the dance floor with aplomb (I think that’s what you hit the dance floor with). After rapturous applause, the guests then joined them to dance into the night to some cracking sounds from Warningtones, a brilliant live band with real Yorkshire energy.
The Photographs..
I hope you enjoy the photographs and that they convey something of what a wonderful day this was. Because it really was! It’s only a cross section and apologies if I’ve left any particular favourites out. Do get in touch if you like them.
Craig and Lauren – thank you so much for asking me to be your wedding photographer. It really was fantastic to be a part of your day. Wishing you both every possible happiness for your future.
