A couple of days ago I grabbed a camera and that most important piece of equipment of all, a brolly, and took the train down to King’s Cross for an afternoon’s street photography in London.
I’ve always had it in the back of my mind to do some photography of street scenes and people in some proper cold, wet weather. That wasn’t necessarily part of the plan when I booked the train last week, but it was certainly what I got. The rain was relentless all afternoon and into the early evening.
But who cares when the amazing colours of Piccadilly Circus are reflected so dramatically by the wet streets and pavements?
Now back home and dried out, I’m looking forward to taking the Eurostar for a few days shooting street photography in Paris. Hopefully the French capital won’t be quite as wet and cold, although photography in the rain can be very rewarding. Four days based in Montmartre and with perhaps the beginnings of spring, it’ll be just me, a camera and a couple of prime lenses.
With any luck the umbrella won’t be quite as necessary. Can’t wait!
