Catherine and Piers held their summer outdoor wedding at Losehill House. Wonderful Losehill House is nestled amidst some of the most peaceful and breathtaking Peak District countryside, close to the peaks of Win Hill, MamTor, Kinder Scout and of course Lose Hill. A perfect wedding venue for outdoor enthusiasts like Catherine and Piers. The sun shone throughout to help make this a day that I was particularly keen to share.
As ever, weddings are about people. The couple, their family and friends at this lovely occasion were simply a joy to photograph. There was a closeness and feeling of family that made the day particularly special.
First to arrive were an excited Catherine and the girls, going straight to the suite to get ready. Piers and the guys arrived shortly afterwards resplendent in traditional Scottish dress. All the while behind the scenes, the cake and the flowers were being installed with great care and the family were busy with a few finishing touches. Photographs were being taken throughout to record the sense of excitement that was very evident. This was also a chance also to take some more formal photographs of Piers, his family and the groomsmen to show those fine outfits.

One of the many special aspects of holding a summer wedding at Losehill House is the ability to hold the ceremony outdoors. Surrounded by incredible views and peaceful countryside, the ceremony took place in the gazebo on the lawn.
Here is what it’s all about. The heartfelt vows surrounded by family and friends, the kindness, readings that mean so much and a caring and sincere celebrant all combine to take it to the next level.
In other words, the ceremony was gorgeous!

The call came to go into the orangery for the wedding breakfast. Speeches first, really warm hearted and enjoyable, and then the kind of superb meal that Losehill is well known for.
We agreed to go out and take advantage of the beautiful evening sunshine to get some portraits in the lane. Always a good chance for a bride and groom to take a breather from the excitement of the party, a relaxed and incredibly happy Catherine and Piers were amazing in front of the camera.
And then back to the party: guests relaxing in the evening sunshine and enjoying great company always make for valuable and informal photographs. Once the room was ready, the cake needed cutting and it was time for their brilliant first dance. With awesome quantities of energy left, the guests all joined in with a barn dance which absolutely swung everyone into action. What a brilliant evening!
Catherine and Piers – it really was an honour and a joy to be asked to be your photographer for the day. Meeting and getting to know you both, beginning properly with the engagement shoot, has been really special. Wishing you both every happiness for what I can clearly see will be an amazing future.
