A Wonderful Winter Wedding at Peak Edge Hotel, near Chesterfield
In preparation for an upcoming wedding fair at Peak Edge Hotel, I needed to search for a wedding that I’d photographed there previously. Straightaway I remembered Jemma and Andrew’s lovely wedding and wanted to revisit that wonderful day!
Jemma and Andrew chose Peak Edge Hotel at Stonedge, high above Chesterfield in Derbyshire for their winter wedding. It was mid December with the hotel looking wonderful, all ready for Christmas. Very romantic, it actually turned out to be a beautiful sunny day, albeit not exactly tropical outside!
Jemma and her bridesmaids were a great fun group. They all got ready at the hotel and she looked absolutely amazing in that beautiful dress!
So, how did it go?
The wedding was a lovely, sincere and moving ceremony. The low winter sun shone through the windows on to the couple while they made their vows. Family and friends were all clearly so delighted for Jemma and Andrew.
Afterwards we were actually able to go outside to do some group photographs in the gorgeous winter sunshine. Unsurprisingly the garden was too muddy for the guests but the front of the hotel was fine. That said, with that beautiful winter sky we still absolutely had to get photographs of Gemma and Andrew on the little bridge over the stream that runs through the gardens.
The meal went down extremely well. Peak Edge certainly know how to lay on a fine wedding breakfast. Then the speeches, so often highly underestimated as a very special part of the day. These were no exception with some very warm words for a very popular and much loved couple.
Then after a break, absolutely loads of energy carried on to the very colourfully lit dance floor.
Throughout all of this I took many informal photographs of the proceedings, the guests and the details. A combination of such nice people and so much thought being put into this lovely warm wedding on a gorgeous but cold day, meant this day was rather special.
